Dr. James E. Gorham
Dr. James E. Gorham was born to James Sr., and Doris Boyd on December 6,1954 in Tarboro, North Carolina. He is the oldest of the thirteen children. Dr. Gorham was taught at a very young age, the importance of maintaining good work ethics and values. As a result of following this teaching, he has many accomplishments. In June 1975, Dr. Gorham decided to join the United States Army and went into Field Artillery. During the tour at Fort Ord, California, he met and married Mable L. Cook.
Dr. Gorham retired from the Army with over Twenty Seven Years of service, as a First Sargeant in June 2002. Dr. Gorham is a life-time member of the noncommissioned officer association, life-time member of Disabled Veterans, life-time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a life-time member of NAACP and has held numerous positions in the Masonic order. Dr. Gorham is a thirty-third degree mason.
He joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in 1993 and worked at the church as secretary of the Brotherhood, Bible teacher, and also drove the bus for Sunday School. Dr. Gorham received the call to preach the Gospel in July 1997. He preached his trial message October 12, 1997, and was licensed under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Loiuse K. Jones, former pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was ordained April 27, 1999 by Reverend Dr. Michael D. Logan, pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. Gorham was called to pastor Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Duncan,Oklahoma in October 2000. Dr. Gorham received a call to pastor New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma July 2009. He is a graduate of Cameron University in Lawton with the a bachelor's degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology . Dr. Gorham is also a graduate of Slidell Baptist Seminary, Slidell Louisiana with degrees in Master of Theology and Doctor of Ministry.
Dr. Gorham is presently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of Lawton Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance;District Treasurer Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist District and Assistant Treasurer for the Great Missionary Baptist Convention Inc. State of Oklahoma.
